Namaste! I’m Dr. Robert, and today’s “5ish Minutes with Dr. Robert” addresses attachment to the body and the fear of death.
As living beings, it’s natural to want to stay alive. However, our awareness of life can often lead to a deep-seated fear of death and anxiety about what comes after. In a world where material existence is often seen as the only reality, many people believe that everything must be experienced in this lifetime, which can heighten this fear.
In many cultures, especially in Indian tradition, life is understood as part of a cycle of embodied and disembodied existence—an ongoing process for the soul’s spiritual education. This perspective helps us see death as a natural and inevitable part of life.
Attachment to the body is natural and essential for survival, but we must also prepare ourselves for the reality of death. By educating both our minds and bodies, we can learn to let go when the time comes.
